A further fragmentation of the material brings us to (d.). This rhythmic cell is then chopped into (d1.) and (d2.), which reinforces the sense of urgency. All this material is also subject to octave displacement and expansion of registers (0:59 onwards): From a low A3, the fragments are interspersed with notes in the upper octaves (A4, A5). The note A6 is presented as an interval of an octave (A5 and A6) with a leap in register (1:31).

The first chord is a D major chord (D, F♯, and A), which makes the I (tonic) chord. The second chord consists of the notes C♯, E, and A, which make up an A major chord — also known as the V chord in this context because it starts on the fifth note of the D major scale. The third chord is a G major chord (D, B, and G), which is the IV chord because it starts on the fouth note of the D major scale.

Perhaps you’ve looked around at a bunch of our courses, and then realized that we don’t yet have that electronic dance harmonica course you’ve been looking for yet. Bummer! But that’s OK, because the Headliners Club allows you to go on a customized learning journey around a topic of your choosing.

His itemized list of what each class receives helps build anticipation and a deep connection with the project, even in its infancy. A great project with great implementation.

If you want to rock out this Saturday, check out Vagabon at the Silent Barn. They’re opening for Aye Nako (an incredible pop-punk band, releasing their new album), hopefully playing some tunes off of their 2014 release Persian Garden. Laetitia Tamko’s ragged vocals chase distorted lead guitar lines to devastating and gorgeous effect.

Again this element can be taken as lightly or seriously as you want — from t-shirts and jeans to tuxedos to fully customized outfits, masks, wigs, props, etc. — but it’s always something you need to be aware of. A small bit of effort, like for example, synchronizing your dress code with the rest of the band, can go a long way.

There was one channel I quite liked that would be great to leave on for my dog indefinitely. That was the live dog video channel on YouTube. If your dog is like mine and loves to bark at animals on TV, this channel is perfect because it’s just tons of doggies living their best lives running around on the beach.

So now that we understand what mixing is, what mastering is, and how to make sure mixing is done to optimize the results from the mastering phase, we should also consider when mastering may or may not be necessary.

When you’re in the trenches every day, it’s so easy to forget where you’re headed. When you see your friends or other musicians on social media growing their fan base like crazy, remember the big picture. Take a few minutes every day to zoom out and look at where you, specifically, are going.

“God’s Plan”: Man, the chords in this loop were hard to identify. Not only because the notes here don’t conform to standard A-440 tuning (it’s all about 20 cents sharp of G major), but because they start out as ninth chords whose upper halves are louder and more timbre-distinct than their lower, arpeggio-happy halves. It’s almost like it’s better explained not as “9-chords,” but as “an Em stacked on top of an Am,” and then “a D chord stacked on a G chord.” This “separation” thinking is enhanced by the low-muffled organ patch playing the Am and G, and the more trebly organ patch playing the Em and D.

We often forget that we can get much of our hydration from food as well, specifically plants that add a source of nutrients to our body too! Raw, uncooked foods like salads, fresh fruits, and veggies will increase your water content and keep you hydrated. Keep things like cucumbers, iceberg lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, strawberries, and grapes in the rotation so you can “eat your water.”

I found a MIDI version of the piece and brought it into Ableton Live. The MIDI file put the left and right hand of the piano on separate tracks, so I used separate instruments for each one: a palm-muted guitar for the right, and a synth pluck for the left.

This is not the place for a ton of different pitches — none of that funk chromaticism. In some tracks, the 808 might only play two notes, and they’re both likely roots. Stick to a range of about an octave maximum.
